Set up your services
A service is anything a client can book with you: a consultation, a treatment, a class slot, a session. Get one set up here and it will show on your booking page, ready for clients to choose a time.
The one big idea: a service only appears for clients once it is Active and linked to at least one calendar that has working hours. Service plus calendar plus hours equals a bookable slot.
In a hurry? Do steps 1, 2 and 3, then check the calendars and turn on Active. That is a bookable service. Options, add-ons, deposits, processing time and booking windows can all wait until tonight.
Watch: setting up your services
A walkthrough of building a service, from naming it to linking it to a calendar.

Before you start
- Services live under Services in the sidebar. You need admin access to set up services for the whole business.
- Team members can add services too, but only for the calendars they look after, and they see a shorter form: naming, timing, price and payment. Options, add-ons, processing time and location are admin only.
- If you want clients to pay online, finish connecting Stripe first. See connect Stripe to take payments.
Step 1: Name it and set the basics
- Open Services and click Add service.
- Type a Name clients will recognise, such as "Cut and finish".
- Set Duration (mins), anywhere from 5 to 480.
- Set Buffer (mins) if you need protected time after the appointment, from 0 to 120.
- Add a short Description if it helps clients choose.
Add Service form

Step 2: Choose how clients book it
Pick One simple offering if the service is always the same length and price. Pick Multiple bookable options if it comes in variations, for example short, medium and long hair.
How will clients book this service?
Pick one fixed offering for an identical booking every time, or multiple bookable options to let clients choose a version first.
Step 3: Set the price and how it is paid
- Enter a Price.
- Choose how it is paid: pay at the venue, a deposit online, or the full price online.
- With a deposit, fill in Deposit amount (£). On a service with several options this is called Default deposit (£) and is used when an option leaves its own deposit blank.
Warning: deposits and full payment need Stripe fully finished, not just started. If you began connecting Stripe but it has not enabled charges yet, this editor stops warning you, and every client who tries to book loses their booking and sees "Payment setup failed". Check Settings, then Payments, says charges are enabled before you turn on a deposit.
Step 4: Offer several versions (optional)
If you chose Multiple bookable options, add one row per version with its own name, duration and price. Add another option stays greyed out until every option above it has a name, a duration, and a price where one is required.
Bookable options
Build each option in turn (name, duration, buffer, price), then add the next. Add another unlocks once the current option is complete.
Step 5: Offer optional add-ons (optional)
Add-ons are extras a client can bolt on, such as a beard trim. Group them, then set each one's Extra price and Extra minutes. Tick Hide from online booking page (staff-only) for extras you only add yourself.
Add-ons
Optional extras grouped by question. Each group can be pick one or pick multiple, required or optional, with its own price and extra time.
Add an add-on group
Name the group, ask the client a prompt, choose how many they can pick, then list each option with an extra price and extra minutes.
Step 6: Free up your chair during processing time (optional)
Some services have a gap in the middle where the client stays put but you are not needed, such as waiting for colour to develop. Processing time marks that gap so ResNeo can book someone else into it.
Find the Processing time card and click + Add processing period.
- Start (min) is how many minutes into the appointment the gap begins.
- Length (min) is how long it lasts.
Example: a 90 minute colour where you apply for 20 minutes, the client develops for 40, and you finish in the last 30. Set Start to 20 and Length to 40. ResNeo can now fit a 30 minute cut inside that window.
Step 7: Set your booking window
Scroll to Guest booking rules. These decide when clients may book this service online.
- Max advance (days) is how far ahead your diary opens. It starts at 90.
- Min booking notice (hours) is the shortest warning you accept. It starts at 1, so a client can book a 3pm cut at 2pm.
- Cancellation notice (hours) decides when a deposit stops being refundable. It starts at 48.
- Allow same-day bookings is on by default.
Just below, Booking interval & start times sets how often a booking can begin. It starts at every 15 minutes. Set it to 30 if you would rather offer only 9:00 and 9:30, or tick Restrict start times within each hour and pick the marks yourself.
Step 8: Say where it happens (optional)
Most services happen at your premises, so you can skip the Location card.
- At the client's address makes the booking form ask every client for their address and prints it in their emails instead of yours.
- Online lets you add a Link to the online service and Joining information for the client, both of which go into confirmation and reminder emails.
Step 9: Colour, then make it live
- Pick a Colour so it stands out on your calendar.
- Turn on Active (visible to clients).
Step 10: Check which calendars offer it
Scroll to Calendars that offer this service.
Warning: when you create a service, every calendar is ticked for you. Untick the people or rooms that should not offer it, or it goes on sale for all of them.
- Untick any calendar that should not offer this service.
- If you are an admin and need a new column, click Add calendar.
- Click Create Service (or Save Changes when editing).
Warning: if you untick every calendar, ResNeo still saves the service without complaining. It will look fine in your list and no client will ever see it. Always leave at least one ticked.
Good to know: your plan sets how many team calendars you can have. Light gives you one, Plus five, Pro unlimited. Once they are used up, Add calendar is replaced by a message about your plan.
Different price per chair? Tick the boxes under Optional overrides per calendar to let each calendar set its own duration, price or deposit for this service.
How a service reaches your booking page
Once a service is Active and linked to a calendar with working hours, clients see it on your booking page. The times they can pick are wherever three things overlap: your venue opening hours, the hours of each calendar you ticked, and this service's own schedule.
Scroll to When guests can book this service online to see the result drawn out before you save. If a service should be bookable for less time than you are open, turn on This service's schedule just below and set those hours.
Services appear in the order they sit in your list. Drag the handle on the left of a service card, or use the arrows, to put your most popular one first.

Common problems & fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| My new service is not on the booking page | Every calendar was unticked (this saves silently), or it is not Active | Open the service, tick at least one calendar under Calendars that offer this service, turn on Active (visible to clients), and save |
| My service appears for everyone | New services start with every calendar ticked | Open it and untick the calendars that should not offer it |
| The service shows but has no available times | Your venue opening hours are narrower than you think, or the calendar's hours do not cover that time | Check Settings, then Business hours, then that calendar's Availability tab. A new calendar starts at 09:00 to 22:00 every day, so venue hours are usually what limits it |
| I cannot save the service | Name is empty, a deposit is blank or zero, full payment is on with no price, an option has no price, or no option is offered to clients | Fill in the missing value the message names, then save again |
| Add another option is greyed out | An option above is missing a name, duration, or required price | Complete every option, then add the next |
| Clients pay nothing even though I set a deposit | Stripe is not fully connected | Finish Stripe in Settings, then Payments, until charges are enabled |
| Add calendar is missing | You have used every calendar your plan allows | Upgrade under Settings, then Plan |
