The short answer

What is a good alternative to Booksy?

One alternative to Booksy is a flat-fee booking system with no commission on new clients, such as ResNeo from £20 a month (Stripe's standard card fees still apply). Booksy can still suit you if its app brings you new clients, or you send a lot of texts, because its reminders are free. For a team of three, Booksy lists £50 (£60 with VAT) a month and ResNeo Plus is £49 including VAT, so ResNeo's subscription is lower and Boost and texts decide the rest. To switch, email info.gb@booksy.com for your client list and appointments as CSV or Excel files, import them into ResNeo and check them within the 24-hour undo. Booksy's figures were checked on 6 November 2026.

How Booksy Boost commission works

Boost is the optional part of Booksy that charges commission. Here it is as Booksy’s help article on Boost and pricing page describe it.

  • A client's first visit while Boost is on costs 30% of that visit, minimum £5, plus VAT. On a £25 cut that is £7.50 (£9 with VAT). Later visits are free of it.
  • It is worked out on the base price, without add-ons, and only for visits that happened: mark no-shows on the day.
  • Wrong charge? Claim it under Marketing, Boost, Boost details, Claim (Booksy’s claims help).

Staying on Booksy? Share your own link

Booksy’s pricing FAQ suggests sharing your own Booksy profile link with clients so you are not charged commission on them. If you keep Boost on, give that link to new clients who find you through Instagram, Google or a friend, so they book you directly rather than through the Booksy app.

Booksy vs ResNeo: prices compared on real numbers

Including VAT on both sides, working alone costs £48 on Booksy, reminders free, and £20 on ResNeo Light with 100 texts. Boost adds £9 with VAT per new client on a £25 cut, and £14.40 on a £40 service.

Texts matter for a busy shop: the 24-hour prompt and the 2-hour reminder by text are two a booking. At 500 texts a month Appointments Plus comes to £64, and at 750 to £79, while Booksy stays at £60 with VAT, so Booksy is cheaper at both. Either message can go by email only, at no cost.

What Booksy does well

  • One price with every feature, gift cards and packages included.
  • Reminders and confirmations are free however many you send.
  • A client app where new customers find barbers, free unless Boost is on.

ResNeo lists you free at resneo.com/book once your booking page is set up, but it is newer and smaller than Booksy’s app.

Should you stay with Booksy or switch?

Stay

Staying with Booksy makes sense if

  • Boost brings you new clients who come back, and 30% of a first visit is a price you are happy to pay.
  • You send a lot of texts. Booksy's reminders are free however many you send.
  • You have six to nine people taking bookings, where Booksy's price is lower including VAT.

Switch

Switching makes sense if

  • You have one to five chairs, or ten or more, where ResNeo costs less including VAT.
  • Most of your new clients already find you through Instagram, Google or word of mouth, so Boost's promotion adds little for you.
  • You rent chairs to self-employed barbers and want each on their own account, linked into one booking page. See chair rental salon software.

How to get your clients out of Booksy

Booksy’s UK help centre has no self-service client export, so send support this email.

To: info.gb@booksy.com

Subject: Copy of my business data, [business name]

Please send me, as CSV or Excel files: my client list with names, phone numbers, emails and marketing preferences; all future appointments; my appointment history; my services with prices and lengths; and any gift card, package and membership balances. My account email is [email].

Your client list and appointments

  1. 1Send the email above from the address on your Booksy account, or paste it into the chat in the Booksy app.
  2. 2Ask for CSV or Excel files: ResNeo cannot read a PDF.

Some guides describe an export under Clients on the desktop version. If you see one, use it; Booksy's own article does not mention it.

What moves from Booksy to ResNeo

What moves from Booksy to ResNeo, and what does not
ClientsYesUpload the client file Booksy sends as a Client list. One name column is fine: ResNeo splits it.
Appointments, past and futureYesUpload them as a Booking history, if Booksy sends them. If not, see the fallback in the plan.
Deposits clients paid on BooksyPartlyMap any deposit columns to Deposit amount (£) and Deposit paid. No money moves: a refund of a deposit taken through Booksy has to be made in Booksy.
Gift cards, packages and membershipsNoNot through the data import. Checkout's Import vouchers from a file brings in each voucher's code, balance and expiry, but ResNeo is switching Checkout on for businesses gradually: if you would like it, talk to us. Otherwise honour Booksy's list of balances by hand.
Saved cardsNoBooksy publishes no way to export them. Clients add a card when they next book with a deposit.
Your Booksy profile and reviewsNoThey stay with Booksy, and Booksy's terms do not say what happens to profile reviews after you leave.

Also not imported: products, forms and loyalty balances. Barbers arrive as calendars, not logins, so you invite your team. ResNeo’s memberships are for classes, not appointments.

Importing Booksy’s files into ResNeo

In Settings, Profile, click Open Data Import (admins only). Upload the client file as a Client list and any appointments as a Booking history, check the matches on Map, match each barber and service, then Approve & start import. For 24 hours, Undo then Undo import reverses it. Step by step: importing your data and data import problems.

Rather not do it yourself? Send us your export and we’ll move your clients, future bookings and team across for free. Then check everything before you share your new link.

A plan for leaving Booksy without losing bookings

Ask for your data first, because it comes by email. Cancel Booksy last.

  1. 1

    Today

Ask Booksy for your data, and switch Boost off

    • Send the email above to info.gb@booksy.com before anything else.
    • Switch Boost off, so no new first-visit fees build up while you move.
  2. 2

    Week 1

Set ResNeo up while Booksy carries on

    • When Booksy’s files arrive, start your 14-day trial, add a calendar per chair, and paste your Booksy link into Set up with AI, Your old booking page. No reply within a week? Chase Booksy first.
    • Connect Stripe (how), but add deposits to services after import day.
    • Switch on Ask for a Google review in ResNeo.
  3. 3

    Import day

Bring your clients and appointments across, once

    • Without deposit columns, a booking for a service with a ResNeo deposit shows Deposit pending: check those.
    • Leave Send upcoming reminders for imported bookings unticked: Booksy keeps reminding clients about bookings made there, so each gets one reminder, not two.
    • No appointments from Booksy? Import the clients, leave existing Booksy bookings where they are, and keep Booksy until the last one.
  4. 4

    Overlap week

Take new bookings on ResNeo only

    • Swap your link on Instagram, Google and your website. If a Book button on Google or Instagram opens Booksy, remove it with that platform, as Booksy's terms say it does not, then add your ResNeo link as your Google booking link.
    • Until the last Booksy booking has passed, check Booksy each day for new bookings, cancellations and changes, and copy them into ResNeo. Never import the file again: ResNeo would add its bookings twice.
    • Stop selling Booksy gift cards. Redeem old ones with Record a payment, Another way, noting the code.
  5. 5

    After the last Booksy booking

    Close Booksy

    • Keep Booksy open until the last appointment with a Booksy deposit has happened, because any refund of it is made in Booksy.
    • Let your last payouts land: Booksy says standard payouts take 2 to 3 business days.
    • Cancel through support at least 7 days before a billing date, or in your phone's app store if you subscribed there.

What to tell your clients

“Hi [name], it’s [you] at [business]. From [date] I’m taking bookings on my new booking page: [link]. Your next appointment is still booked, nothing changes.”

Send it to clients with an upcoming appointment. ResNeo’s bulk messages go only to clients with marketing consent, so reach everyone else through your Instagram, website and Google profile.

What you get on ResNeo, and what it costs

One flat fee by team size, no commission, and a calendar and booking link for every chair. Deposits go straight into your own Stripe account (Stripe’s fees apply). Texts are included up to your allowance, then 6p each: for a three-chair shop that is Plus at £49 with 250 texts, so if you text a lot, send the 2-hour reminder by email only. Checkout, the till with gift vouchers: ResNeo is switching this on for businesses gradually. If you would like it, talk to us.

Common questions

Leaving Booksy, answered.

Is there a free alternative to Booksy?

ResNeo is not free: it is £20 a month for one chair after a 14-day free trial. If an app has no monthly fee, check what it charges on new clients, card payments and add-ons instead.

What is a good Booksy alternative for barbers?

Look for your own booking link, deposits or card holds against no-shows, and text reminders. ResNeo is one option, priced by the number of chairs, with 0% booking commission. Booksy's free reminders suit a shop that texts a lot.

How much is Booksy Boost commission?

30% of a new client's first visit, minimum £5, plus VAT, only while Boost is on, on the base price and only for visits that took place. No monthly fee. Rates quoted elsewhere online can be out of date.

Can I use Booksy without paying commission?

Yes. Boost is optional, and Booksy says marketplace bookings are free when Boost is off. It also suggests sharing your own profile link with clients so you are not charged commission on them.

How do I cancel Booksy?

Contact Booksy support by in-app chat or info.gb@booksy.com at least 7 days before the end of your billing cycle, as its GB terms ask. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel there.

What happens to my data when I leave Booksy?

Booksy's GB terms say your account and data are blocked when the agreement ends; on request Booksy provides your data within 3 months, then deletes it. Ask before you cancel.

Is ResNeo cheaper than Booksy?

Including VAT, Booksy's subscription is lower for six to nine people and ResNeo's for one to five and from ten. Booksy's reminders are free, while ResNeo charges 6p a text beyond the allowance, so a busy shop can pay less on Booksy. Boost adds at least £6 with VAT a new client.

Will my Booksy reviews and profile come across?

No. Your profile stays with Booksy, whose terms do not say what happens to its reviews. ResNeo can ask each client for a Google review.
